The Dinosaur Gallery at the Center of Science and Industry in Columbus, OH is comprised of new exhibitions that had previously been designed and shown at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, NY. Custom modifications were designed for the exhibits to fit within the new permanent gallery and create a better visitor experience.
I served as Exhibition Designer on this project at the American Museum of Natural History.
A low ceiling in a section of the gallery meant rethinking part of the original exhibition design. New speedrail structures were constructed to bring specimens down to a lower height, while still integrating them into the original design aesthetic.
It was important to preserve the unique storyline of each exhibition by implementing a defined visitor pathway ensuring a cohesive narrative. This enabled concepts to build upon each other and helped visitors navigate the 12,000 sq. ft. space.
The central platform displaying a Yutyrannus model had to be retrofitted in order to fit the shape of the gallery and make the shift from temporary exhibit to permanent exhibition.
